THE LENNOX TABLE
by Morgan Madison Design
BESPOKE elements are a fundamental design component of any creation of Morgan Madison Design. These custom elements often have a deeper symbolic meaning or purpose that goes beyond aesthetics. These elements are usually among our client’s most treasured pieces within the spaces we design for them. They are beautiful and functional and made to fit a unique function, space, or aesthetic.
THE LENNOX TABLE
Named for Mary Lennox, the complex protagonist from The Secret Garden
Inspired by the innate beauty and grace found in nature, this brass table on casters treads the line between furniture and sculpture. Extremely functional, it is meant to layer above an ottoman or a coffee table to provide a moveable surface. The functional tabletop is sleek, somewhat industrial, and riveting and is juxtaposed with the raw, twisted vine sculptural sides that ground the piece with a certain earthiness.
A moveable feast.
Given the emphasis on function, this piece could have been quite lackluster - a simple table that fits over the ottoman and provides a nice surface for a book or beverage - but we were intent on it having a strong, unique personality that could stand up to the other dominant personalities in a space. It was an exercise in sensorial abundance, a feast for the eyes, with plenty of twists and turns to add texture to the piece, and yet another intentional layer to the space.
If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.

“Of course there must be lots of magic in the world, but people don’t know what it is like or how to make it. Perhaps the beginning is just to say nice things are going to happen until you make them happen.”
Each and every component of this piece is handmade, but expert craftspeople, in the USA.
